AP Astana is a regional investment facility, co-created by Accelerate Prosperity (AP) and United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) under a joint initiative: “UK-Central Asia Green Inclusive Growth Fund” (GIG Fund). The overall objective of AP Astana under GIG Fund is to extend and catalyze patient financing to Startups, Small and Growing Businesses (SGBs) to boost economic development and social impact by promoting inclusive entrepreneurship that boosts local economic development, contributes towards green(ing) economy and employment creation especially for women, youth and people with disability. The initial size of AP Astana under the GIG Fund is around $20m, which would aim to unlock an additional $50m for startups and SGBs by 2031.

ABOUT US

AP Astana is a subsidiary of Accelerate Prosperity (AP). AP is a global enterprise growth accelerator and impact investment initiative that intends to create an inclusive and prosperous society powered by entrepreneurs. It contributes towards this mandate by offering blended financial solutions and pre/post financing technical assistance to help entrepreneurs start new businesses and grow early-stage businesses. Its overall mission is to inspire rising entrepreneurs in emerging regions to grow new markets, create sustainable employment, and strengthen communities.

Kazakhstan (Astana) is the 7th country of operations, which also makes AP a global enterprise growth accelerator and impact investment fund with one of the largest footprints in the relevant space in developing/underdeveloped countries.

Through impact investing, we aim to not only seek discounted financial returns but to also drive significant social and environmental benefits. This approach introduces a unique dimension to the traditional risk and return model, serving the unbanked niche of pre-revenue and early-stage businesses and making them bankable over time that can go on to foster a transformative shift of the traditional financial industry towards such businesses.

Growth or scale-up investments for businesses with established revenue streams, validated business models and clear expansion plans.
Patient financing up to $200k for pre-revenue and early-stage businesses and upwards of $200k for scale-up/growth investments.
Technology-based and/or enabled startups and/or SGBs willing to contribute towards green economy and serving multiple sectors such as agriculture, building and construction, tourism, energy, textile, education and health services, etc.

    Improve investment readiness of the supported startups and SGBs especially for commercial financing, large scale investments from formal financial institutions, VCs, private equity funds, individual investors and DFIs.

    Improved contribution of supported businesses towards addressing critical development challenges such as the effects of climate change, unemployment, weak local economic development and job creation especially for women, youth and people with disability.
  • Business growth and market expansion
    Improved revenue based, profitability, clientele and overall reach of supported businesses in urban and importantly rural and remote areas, regional integration and trade promotion.
  • Catalytic impact and ecosystem strengthening
    Promote a more dynamic and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem by leveraging fund interventions to crowd in additional capital, strengthen partnerships, and enhance overall market development. This is expected to enable supported businesses to unlock an additional $50m from external investors by 2031.

AP Astana is seeking Expression of Interest from partners for co-investment, deal sourcing, joint activities mainly pipeline development and sharing a pool of investors for further investments.
